About Us
In affiliation with the educational services provided by Islamic Community Milli Gorus, the Saturday Turkish School provides educational services to the Turkish community living in and around the Victorian suburb of Broadmeadows. In today’s multicultural society, our school aims to educate students about their own cultural values and how to positively contribute to the Australian society. The Turkish school curriculum is enriched with various resources and activities, to ensure students learn in a productive and enjoyable environment.
Our School
ICMG Saturday Turkish School school provides Turkish LOTE educational services on Saturday’s for Prep to Year 12 students, at the Ilim College Dallas Campus between the hours of 9:00am to 2:00pm. Our classrooms are equipped with visual and auditory resources to support students learning. During recess, students are able to enjoy the various activity sites, playgrounds, synthetic courts and the gymnasium. A specialty of our school, is the incredibly tasty food served at the canteen; therefore, making it one of the most popular locations for students.
Our Curriculum
The school curriculum is planned and delivered, with the aid of materials designed to meet the guidelines of the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority. In order to master the Turkish language, we have incorporated the most important learning method, reading, as an integral part of the curriculum. Taking into consideration the reading level and interest of students, classroom libraries are composed to suit the needs of each class. Therefore, encouraging students to develop a positive outlook towards learning the Turkish language and strengthening their language skills.
Our Teachers
Our teaching staff are qualified educators in accordance to the Australian Education Department Community Languages Schools. Each year, staff are required to attend 20 hours of Professional Learning Seminars and Programs, to develop their knowledge and skills in accordance to the developing educational techniques
Religious Culture & Ethics Studies
In addition to providing Turkish LOTE studies, our school also provides valuable education to its students about Religious Culture and Ethics. The study of Religious Culture and Ethics provides students with fundamental Islamic knowledge in addition to the cultural and ethical values. The Gokkusagi magazine, is a religious-oriented magazine specially designed for students who use Turkish as a second language. The magazine is provided to all students attending the Saturday Turkish School to assist in the Religious Culture and Ethics lessons. Students enrolled to the school are provided with the additional Religious Culture and Ethics lessons between 12:00pm to 2:00pm, at no additional cost to families.
